In a grand celebration of purpose, professionalism, and divine faithfulness, the Sango/Ota Zone of the Association of Professional Wedding Engagement Coordinators (APWECON) National & International commemorated its 20th anniversary in a spectacular gala that blended excellence with heartfelt gratitude. Held at the prestigious Chicago Hall, the event—aptly themed “20 Years of God’s Faithfulness”—stood as a fitting tribute to two decades of transformative leadership within Nigeria’s revered Alaga and wedding coordination industry.
FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO A FLOURISHING LEGACY
One of the most powerful moments of the evening was the moving “Pioneer Testimony,” which traced the Zone’s inspiring journey from its modest beginnings as an offshoot of the Agege Zone in Lagos. What began 20 years ago with just four to six courageous pioneers has blossomed into a thriving professional body of nearly 200 members across 13 dynamic zones. Their story stands as a testament to the power of vision, faith, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

In a richly ceremonial highlight, the association formally installed its newly decorated Patrons, Matrons, and Advisers—individuals whose wisdom and guidance continue to anchor the organization’s growth. The honour roll featured revered community leaders, accomplished professionals, and respected traditional figures, each celebrated for their unwavering support and enduring contributions to the association’s vision.
MORE THAN A CELEBRATION: A COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY
Beyond the glamour, the anniversary embodied a deeper purpose—service. In a commendable show of Corporate Social Responsibility, the Zone extended its celebration into the community by reaching out to pupils of Local Government Schools in Sango Joju. Educational materials including books, writing tools, and water bottles were distributed, reinforcing the association’s belief that true success lies not only in celebration, but in impact.
