A BIRTHDAY OF IMPACT: WIDESCOPE GROUP CHAIRMAN, DR. SEGUN MUSA, VISITS LASUTH, DONATES TO MEDICAL SUPPORT

In an era where birthdays are often marked by lavish parties and private indulgence, Hon. Dr. Oluwasegun M. Musa, Chairman and Chief Consultant of the award-winning Widescope Group of Companies, once again chose a higher calling—humanity.

Marking his birthday with purpose and compassion, the distinguished corporate strategist, philanthropist, and infrastructure expert paid a humanitarian visit to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), extending vital medical support to patients in need. This noble act was far from symbolic; it reflects a lifelong commitment to service—one that has defined Dr. Musa’s journey for over two decades.

A LEADER WHO CELEBRATES BY GIVING
Widely regarded as a visionary entrepreneur, humanitarian, and distinguished leader, Dr. Musa consistently demonstrates that true leadership transcends boardrooms and balance sheets. His birthday visit to LASUTH reaffirmed his deeply held belief that success finds its highest meaning when deployed in service to others.
During the visit, Dr. Musa engaged personally with hospital officials, healthcare professionals, and beneficiaries, reinforcing his unwavering commitment to supporting healthcare institutions and easing the burdens faced by vulnerable patients.

WARM RECEPTION AT LASUTH
On behalf of LASUTH, Nurse Oyebode M.O., one of the Directors of Nursing Services, alongside her management team and nursing staff, warmly received Dr. Musa and members of his foundation. The atmosphere was marked by gratitude, respect, and shared purpose, as hospital representatives commended his sustained support for medical care and humanitarian development.
The visit further underscored the critical role of private-sector partnership in strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system, particularly in providing support for indigent and critically ill patients.

A MOMENT OF GRATITUDE AND CELEBRATION
In a touching and symbolic gesture, the LASUTH team surprised the celebrant with a birthday cake, honouring not just his birth, but the countless lives he continues to touch through his generosity. This was followed by the presentation of a cheque to support the hospital’s medical assistance programme, with special focus on financially challenged and vulnerable patients in urgent need of care.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Musa reflected on his enduring commitment to humanitarian service, stating that giving back has been a defining part of his life for over 20 years. He described the act of helping others as deeply fulfilling and encouraged well-meaning Nigerians, especially those in positions of influence, to imbibe a culture of charity.
The celebration was beautifully rounded off with prayers from Islamic clerics, who came to honour Dr. Musa, offering heartfelt supplications and blessings for his continued health, success, and impactful service to humanity. Their presence added a profound spiritual dimension to the occasion and reflected the deep respect the celebrant commands.

FOUNDATION PERSPECTIVE: A CULTURE OF GIVING
Speaking with the Elitist Media Team, the Director-General of the Dr. Segun Musa Foundation, Ambassador Olatunde Martins, disclosed that the humanitarian outreach forms part of the foundation’s annual charity programme.
According to him, the 2024 edition was held at Randle General Hospital, Surulere, while this year’s outreach at LASUTH further reinforces the foundation’s commitment to healthcare support. He emphasized that Dr. Segun Musa sees humanitarian service as a moral responsibility and a consistent way of giving back to society.
Beyond hospital visitations, Ambassador Martins noted that the foundation is actively involved in several impactful initiatives, including scholarships for students from indigent backgrounds, academic prizes for the best graduating students of Dr. Musa’s alma mater, Lagos State University, as well as the provision of free potable water through borehole projects across several Lagos communities.

A LEGACY BEYOND CORPORATE SUCCESS
Dr. Musa’s achievements extend far beyond his humanitarian footprint. As a corporate strategist, infrastructure expert, and global transport innovator, he leads Widescope Group in providing strategic solutions across transport, aviation, MSMEs, infrastructure, and project management.
He is the visionary architect behind Nigeria’s GTP Intermodal Transport Roundtable and the Women in Transport Conference—trailblazing platforms that drive sector innovation, inclusion, and policy development. His influence spans national development, maritime innovation, and global transport policy, firmly positioning him among Nigeria’s foremost thought leaders and philanthropists.
By choosing to celebrate his birthday through impact rather than extravagance, Dr. Musa reinforces a legacy rooted in hope, compassion, and lasting societal change.

REDEFINING LEADERSHIP THROUGH SERVICE
Dr. Musa’s birthday visit to LASUTH stands as a compelling reminder that true celebration lies not in what we receive, but in what we give. His life and leadership continue to inspire excellence, transform lives, and redefine modern leadership.
Indeed, this was not just a birthday—it was a birthday of impact.
