Rotarian Taiye Olubunmi Lawal, PHF, is a retired Nurse Practitioner whose exemplary career spans over 35 years of distinguished service in healthcare across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and beyond. A dual citizen of Nigeria and the UK, she has built a legacy defined by professional excellence, compassionate leadership, and unwavering humanitarian commitment.

Her remarkable nursing journey began in 1974 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Abeokuta, where she obtained her foundational qualifications in Nursing and Midwifery. Driven by a passion for advanced clinical care, she proceeded to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), where she received specialist training in Accident and Emergency Nursing—a pivotal step that prepared her for high-level responsibilities in critical healthcare delivery.
Academically accomplished, Taiye Lawal earned a Degree in Adult Nursing from City University, London, and further strengthened her professional expertise through advanced training at London South Bank University and institutions in Havering, Essex.

Her professional career in Nigeria includes 14 years of service (1980–1994) with the Nigerian Ports Authority Medical Services, where she rose to the rank of Senior Nursing Sister, demonstrating outstanding leadership and clinical competence. She later joined the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (1994–2001), contributing significantly to corporate healthcare standards and employee wellbeing.
In 2002, she transitioned to the United Kingdom, where she served within the National Health Service (NHS) across several leading institutions, including Homerton University Foundation Trust Hospital (East London), Queens Hospital and St. George’s Hospital (Essex),
Havering Primary Care Trust (Hornchurch), North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT), and Barking and Dagenham NHS Community Health Services. Her illustrious NHS career culminated in 2017, when she retired as a Band 7 Nurse Practitioner, marking the close of an era of impactful clinical service before her return to Nigeria.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Taiye Lawal is widely celebrated for her humanitarian work, particularly her unwavering support for the elderly and multiple-birth children. Over the years, she has collaborated with more than 12 organizations, NGOs, and ministries across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States, leaving an indelible mark of compassion wherever she serves.

Her exceptional leadership, professional excellence, and humanitarian impact have earned her wide recognition both locally and internationally. In celebration of these outstanding qualities and her selfless service to humanity, Rotarian Taiye Olubunmi Lawal, PHF, was honored with the Distinguished Nigerian Awards (DNA)—a prestigious recognition reserved for exceptional Nigerians whose lives and work consistently contribute to nation-building and global excellence.

In addition to this honor, she is a recipient of the Susanna Wesley Award of the Methodist Church and a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) as well as a member of the Paul Harris Society, distinctions that further underscore her far-reaching impact through Rotary International and beyond.
Today, Rotarian Taiye Lawal remains actively engaged as a proud member of the Rotary Club of Gbagada, District 9112 (formerly District 9110), serving alongside her twin sister. Together, they exemplify Rotary’s timeless motto: “Service Above Self.”
