Inside the mind of the visionary CEO shaping Nigeria’s mobile landscape and making technology accessible to every African.

In a rapidly evolving digital age where mobile technology shapes economies, education, and everyday life, few Nigerian brands are stepping forward with as much purpose and clarity as MiGO Mobile. At the helm is Dr. George Ademola Evans, a visionary technology entrepreneur driven by a passion for local innovation and inclusive access.
In this exclusive 360 Degree conversation with Elitist Magazine, Dr. Evans shares the inspiration behind MiGO Mobile, the brand’s mission to democratize mobile technology, and his bold vision for a future where African-made solutions compete confidently on the global stage.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY, AND WHAT INSPIRED YOUR ENTRY INTO THE MOBILE TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY.
My professional journey has been shaped by a strong interest in technology, enterprise development, and problem-solving within emerging markets. Over the years, I have worked across business strategy, technology deployment, and market development, which gave me first-hand exposure to how deeply mobile technology influences everyday life in Africa.
What inspired my entry into the mobile technology industry was a simple but powerful realization: the mobile phone is the most important piece of infrastructure for the average African. It is not just a communication device—it is a tool for education, commerce, financial inclusion, and social connection. I saw an opportunity to build a Nigerian brand that truly understands local realities and delivers technology that works for our environment, our income levels, and our aspirations.

WHAT IS THE VISION BEHIND MiGO MOBILE, AND WHAT GAP WAS THE BRAND CREATED TO FILL IN NIGERIA’S MOBILE DEVICE MARKET?
MiGO Mobile was created with a clear vision: to democratize access to reliable, affordable, and purpose-built mobile technology for Africans.
The Nigerian mobile device market has traditionally been polarized—either very expensive premium devices that are out of reach for most people, or ultra-cheap devices that compromise quality and after-sales support. MiGO was designed to sit in the middle: offering value-driven devices that balance performance, durability, affordability, and local relevance.
We exist to prove that a Nigerian brand can compete credibly, innovate responsibly, and serve the mass market without cutting corners.

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT MiGO MOBILE PRODUCTS, THEIR KEY FUNCTIONS, AND HOW THEY MEET THE EVERYDAY NEEDS OF NIGERIAN CONSUMERS?
MiGO Mobile’s product lineup spans feature phones and smartphones, designed for different segments of the market. Our devices prioritize essentials that matter most to Nigerian users—long battery life, strong network reception, durability, and user-friendly software.
Our smartphones are optimized for social media, mobile payments, learning, and small business use, while our feature phones remain popular in rural areas and among users who value simplicity and reliability. Across all categories, we design with local usage patterns in mind—power efficiency, heat tolerance, and intuitive interfaces—so the devices perform well in real-world Nigerian conditions.

ARE MiGO MOBILE DEVICES MANUFACTURED IN NIGERIA OR IMPORTED FROM ABROAD, AND WHAT GUIDES THIS PRODUCTION STRATEGY?
MiGO Mobile currently operates a hybrid production strategy. Some components and devices are sourced through global manufacturing partners, while we are actively planning to set up local assembly, packaging, and capacity building in Nigeria.
This approach is guided by practicality and long-term vision. In the short term, it allows us to maintain quality and cost efficiency. In the long term, our goal is to deepen local manufacturing, create jobs, transfer skills, and support Nigeria’s industrialization agenda. Local production is not just a business decision for us—it is a strategic commitment.

HOW DOES MiGO MOBILE ENSURE PRODUCT QUALITY AND AFFORDABILITY IN A HIGHLY COMPETITIVE AND LARGELY UNREGULATED MARKET?
Quality and affordability are not mutually exclusive if you are intentional. At MiGO Mobile, we focus on tight supply-chain control, rigorous testing, and disciplined product design—we build what users actually need, not unnecessary features that inflate costs.
We also invest heavily in after-sales support and feedback loops. Listening to customers allows us to continuously improve product performance while keeping prices accessible. Our belief is that trust is the real differentiator in an unregulated market, and quality is how that trust is earned.

DOES MiGO MOBILE OFFER EASY-BUY PLANS OR FLEXIBLE PAYMENT OPTIONS FOR CUSTOMERS? IF SO, HOW DO THESE PLANS WORK AND WHO ARE THEY DESIGNED FOR?
Yes, MiGO Mobile actively supports flexible purchase and easy-buy options, often in collaboration with distribution partners, retailers, and financial service providers. These plans are designed for students, young professionals, small business owners, and first-time smartphone users who may not be able to make full upfront payments.
The goal is simple: remove affordability as a barrier to digital participation. When people can access a phone responsibly, they can access opportunities.

WHERE CAN CONSUMERS ACROSS NIGERIA ACCESS MiGO MOBILE PRODUCTS, AND HOW EXTENSIVE IS YOUR DISTRIBUTION NETWORK?
MiGO Mobile products are available across major cities and secondary markets in Nigeria, through a growing network of distributors, retailers, and partner outlets. We also leverage institutional partnerships, campus-based channels, and corporate procurement arrangements.
Our distribution strategy is focused on reach and reliability—ensuring that whether a customer is in an urban center or an emerging market town, they can access MiGO products and support without difficulty.

WHAT IS MiGO MOBILE’S CURRENT STAFF STRENGTH, AND HOW DOES YOUR WORKFORCE CONTRIBUTE TO INNOVATION AND GROWTH?
MiGO Mobile is powered by a lean but highly committed team spanning engineering, operations, sales, marketing, and customer support. Beyond direct employees, we also support a wider ecosystem of partners, technicians, distributors, and service agents.
Our workforce contributes to innovation by staying close to the market. Many of our ideas come directly from field experience—what users are asking for, what breaks, what works, and what can be improved. That proximity keeps us agile and relevant.

WHAT MAJOR CHALLENGES DOES MiGO MOBILE CURRENTLY FACE, AND HOW ARE YOU STRATEGICALLY ADDRESSING THEM?
Like many African technology companies, our challenges include foreign exchange volatility, infrastructure constraints, market fragmentation, and unfair competition from substandard imports.
We address these challenges through strategic partnerships, local capacity building, prudent financial management, and advocacy for better industry standards. Rather than reacting defensively, we focus on building resilience and long-term value.

LOOKING AHEAD, WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PROJECTIONS FOR MiGO MOBILE, AND WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUNG NIGERIANS ENTERING THE TECH BUSINESS SPACE?
The future of MiGO Mobile is centered on scale, deeper local manufacturing, stronger technology integration, and regional expansion. We see MiGO becoming not just a device company, but a broader digital platform supporting connectivity, payments, learning, and productivity.
To young Nigerians entering the tech space, my advice is simple: solve real problems, stay patient, and build with integrity. Technology is not just about innovation—it is about impact. If you focus on value creation and resilience, success will follow.
