Humanitarian Service Beyond Borders: Pharm. Clare Omatseye Installed as 41st President of Rotary Club of Ikoyi, Charts Bold Agenda for Impactful Leadership

Lagos, Sunday, July 6, 2025 — A new chapter of purposeful service and transformative leadership unfolded at the iconic Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, Lagos, as the Rotary Club of Ikoyi—District 9112—officially installed Pharm. (Rotarian) Clare Omatseye as its 41st President for the 2025–2026 Rotary year.

Themed “Unite for Good,” the grand investiture ceremony was a colorful blend of tradition, inspiration, and shared vision, signaling the dawn of a Rotary year committed to impact beyond borders. The event planning committee was ably chaired by Past President Augustine Irabor, who ensured seamless coordination and elegance throughout the celebration.

Commencing promptly at 2:00 PM, the program featured cultural showcases, musical performances, and awards of excellence. The emotional high point came with the ceremonial exchange of the presidential Collarette — a symbolic mantle of leadership — from outgoing President Rotarian Emmanuel Efuntayo to the incoming President, Rotarian Clare Omatseye. The moment was dignified by the presence of District Governor Lanre Adedoyin, who officiated alongside his graceful wife, Mrs. Iyabo Adedoyin.

All eyes turned as Rotarian Clare Omatseye stepped into the spotlight, radiantly accompanied by her husband, Prince Ete Omatseye, Chairman of Woodland Nigeria Ltd., and members of their family. Their regal entrance drew admiration and applause, adding emotional depth to the celebration.

A major feature of the evening was the fundraising appeal for upcoming humanitarian projects. Distinguished guests and donors, including Prof. Fabian Ajogwu (Chairman of the Day), Mr. Spencer Onosese, Special Guest of Honour Mr. Odein Ajumogobia SAN, and Dr. ABC Orjiako, responded generously, reaffirming their commitment to Rotary’s mission of service and social upliftment.

The ceremony also witnessed the induction of new board members and fresh Rotarians, a raffle draw, and the presentation of special recognition awards. In a particularly engaging segment, the audience was treated to a live firefighting demonstration, reflecting President Clare’s signature project focused on emergency preparedness and public safety.

In her moving acceptance speech, President Omatseye expressed deep gratitude to her husband, children, extended family, fellow Rotarians, her dedicated staff at JNCI, and influential supporters like Dr. Tony Elumelu, Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA), for their unwavering belief in service and humanitarian progress.

“As I step into this role,” she said, “I carry not just the mantle of leadership but a responsibility to unite hearts, mobilize minds, and deliver hope where it’s needed most. Together, we will serve — with empathy, energy, and excellence.”

Closing her address, she echoed the sentiment:

> “A good coach can change the game, but a better coach can change a life.”
“That is the kind of leadership I hope to embody — one that changes lives, builds bridges, and leaves no one behind.”

As President Clare takes the helm, the Rotary Club of Ikoyi sails into a new season of compassionate innovation, global collaboration, and unrelenting service — beyond borders.
