*ROTARY CLUB OF OMOLE OJODU IMPACTS OVER 80 EXPECTANT & NURSING MOTHERS THROUGH MATERNAL & CHILD HEALTH PROJECT*

In line with Rotary International’s focus area of *Maternal and Child Health,* the Rotary Club of Omole Ojodu, under District 9112, successfully hosted its *Maternal & Child Health Project* on *Thursday, August 14, 2025,* at the *Oke-Ira Primary Health Centre, Apata Street, Ogba, Lagos.*

 

 

The project, which attracted over *70 pregnant and nursing mothers,* combined impactful donations with transformative health education sessions aimed at improving maternal and infant well-being.

The event was held under the leadership of the _Unite for Good President,_ *Rotarian Akinsanya Faith Naydee,* whose passion for community health inspired the day’s activities.

Dignitaries and club leaders in attendance included the *Charter President,* _Rtn. Abiodun Michael; several Past Presidents such as Immediate Past President Rtn. Bello Henderson and Rtn. Opeyemi Obafemi;_ *Club Secretary* _Rtn. Esther Bassey;_ *Treasurer* _Rtn. Abiola Olowoyeye;_ and *Club Admin* _Rtn. Ojoare (Ojoor)_ — alongside other notable Rotarians whose collective service spirit powered the impactful outreach.

The highlight of the day was the distribution of *birthing Consumables kits* alongside essential items including _baby diapers, Wipes, Mentholated Spirit, Baby Clothes, Antiseptic Dettols_ and many more while branded bed sheets and tissue paper handed overo the health center for usage of the clinic— all aimed at promoting safe delivery, hygiene, and child health.

Participants also benefited from a health awareness talk delivered by the club’s *Maternal & Child Health Ambassador and Advocate,* Rtn. Chioma Sophia emphasized the importance of healthy living during pregnancy and in the early stages of child upbringing.

Rtn. Chioma also stressed the need for both mothers and their spouses to be actively involved in childcare, underscoring that a healthy start for every child begins with the *shared responsibility* of both parents.

Members of the Rotary Club of Omole Ojodu turned out in their new Ankara trousers and crested vests, showing unity and commitment to service. The fellowship and teamwork were evident as Rotarians gathered at the Excellent Hotel & Conference, Ogba, before proceeding to the venue to execute the day’s activities.

Speaking on the impact of the project, _Unite for Good President,_ *Rtn. Akinsanya Faith Naydee,* expressed gratitude to members, partners, and community stakeholders for their support, noting that the event was part of the club’s continuous effort to save lives and support vulnerable members of the community.

The *Maternal & Child Health Project* once again reinforced Rotary’s mission of _“Service Above Self”_ and demonstrated the club’s dedication to building healthier families and a stronger community.
