Ikeja, Lagos — August 8, 2025 – In a gathering that blended Rotary’s proud traditions with a forward-looking call to action, the Rotary Club of Ikeja Central, District 9111, hosted District Governor Rotarian Prince Henry Akinyele on an official visit that inspired, challenged, and united the club.
Held at the stylish Kulture Yard, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, under the capable leadership of Club President, Rotarian Dr. Bola Adewumi, PHF, the evening unfolded as a showcase of excellence — celebrating the club’s achievements, reaffirming its service ideals, and charting a bold course for the future.
An Evening of Highlights and Purpose
The visit commenced with a private strategy session between the District Governor and club leaders — a cordial yet focused discussion centered on growth, impact, and sustainability.
The evening then transitioned into the official Rotary meeting, opening with the solemn recitation of the Objects of Rotary and the Four-Way Test, followed by spirited Rotary songs and program highlights.

Key moments included:
Presentation of the club’s flagship projects and service milestones
Recognition and induction of new members are welcoming of Paul Harris Fellow
Warm welcome of guests and intending Rotarians
Formal presentation of the club bulletin, The ROTIKC, to the District Governor
Special gift presentations to the DG and his delegation as a mark of honor
The proceedings concluded with the Rotary Grace, followed by a group photograph capturing the warmth of fellowship and the pride of service.

A Call to Grow, Serve, and Lead
In his keynote address, DG Prince Henry Akinyele commended the club’s dedication to impactful service but delivered a clear challenge:
> “Membership is the lifeblood of Rotary. The more hands we have, the more impact we can make,” he said, urging members to bring more leaders and professionals into the Rotary family.
He also emphasized the importance of increased contributions to the Rotary Foundation, ensuring the sustainability of Rotary’s global humanitarian initiatives.

Rotary’s Enduring Mission
The District Governor reminded members that Rotary connects over 1.2 million volunteer leaders in more than 200 countries, all united in the mission to address some of the world’s most urgent humanitarian needs.
> “What we do changes lives — both in our communities and across the globe,” he affirmed.
The evening also featured a community outreach highlight — the presentation of financial business support to five petty traders in the Ikeja community. The beneficiaries were encouraged to utilize the funds to grow their enterprises, with the club pledging continued support for their long-term success.
