The Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro has once again demonstrated the enduring power of Service Above Self with the successful commissioning of its Star Project—the renovation and equipping of Wards C1 and C2 at the General Hospital Odan, Marina, Lagos—a landmark humanitarian intervention redefining patient care within the historic health facility.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, commenced promptly at 10:00 a.m., marking a significant milestone in the club’s sustained commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s public healthcare delivery system.

This transformative healthcare project represents an investment of over ₦150 million, made possible through generous donations from members of the Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro, Friends of Rotary, and individual donors committed to advancing community health and humanitarian service.

The project was executed under the visionary leadership of Rotn (Engr.) Alexander Chukwu, PMP, FNSE, FNIEEE, United President, Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro (2025–2026), whose administration prioritised impact-driven service, accountability, and sustainable community development.

TRANSFORMING CARE THROUGH STRATEGIC INTERVENTION
At the heart of the initiative was the complete renovation and equipping of Wards C1 and C2, now fitted with modern hospital beds and essential medical equipment, creating a safer, more dignified, and patient-friendly healing environment.

Interventions included the replacement of old windows in Wards F1 and F2 with modern aluminium fittings, exterior repainting, donation of wheelchairs and crutches, installation of water tanks, borehole and water treatment systems, as well as the provision of additional medical equipment for routine medical check-ups.
