A NEW CHAPTER OF SERVICE: ROTARY CLUB OF SHOMOLU INSTALLS ADÉTOLA ADESANYA, PHF+, AS 42ND PRESIDENT

A Celebration of Leadership, Service Above Self, Fellowship and Lasting Impact


The Rotary Club of Shomolu has opened a new chapter of purposeful leadership and service with the installation of Rotarian Adetola Adesanya, PHF+, as the 42nd President of the Club, at a distinguished investiture held on Saturday, 15th August 2026, at Ogudu GRA, Lagos.
The occasion brought together distinguished Rotary leaders, past presidents, Rotarians, Rotaractors, royal fathers, partners, sponsors, family members and friends of Rotary in celebration of Service Above Self, fellowship and the enduring commitment to creating lasting impact.
The arrival of the District Governor, Rotarian Pharmacist Layi Abidoye, accompanied by his entourage, added prestige to the occasion. Several members of the 2026–2027 Impactful Presidents also graced the ceremony to honour one of their own.


A MASTERPIECE OF ROTARY PLANNING AND PROTOCOL
The investiture stood out as a remarkable demonstration of excellent planning, meticulous protocol, refined organisation and impeccable hospitality.
From the arrival and reception of dignitaries to the carefully coordinated proceedings, every aspect reflected professionalism and attention to detail. The ambience was complemented by melodious music, while guests enjoyed delicious meals and a generous selection of beverages and wine, creating an atmosphere befitting the celebration.


A LEGACY OF MORE THAN FOUR DECADES OF SERVICE
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Investiture Committee, PP Sunday Ode, described the occasion as a celebration of over four decades of dedicated service to humanity.
Since its charter, the Rotary Club of Shomolu has remained committed to impactful interventions in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, environmental sustainability and community development.
Under the Rotary theme “Creating Lasting Impact,” PP Sunday Ode expressed confidence that the new administration would build upon this proud legacy, particularly through the proposed Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Centre.
He appreciated the sponsors, partners, friends of Rotary and everyone whose support contributed to the success of the ceremony.


A DAY OF GRATITUDE AND RESPONSIBILITY
In his acceptance speech, Rtn. Adetola Adesanya, PHF+, described the occasion as “a day of gratitude and responsibility.”
He thanked God, his family, fellow Rotarians and mentors, declaring that “the Rotary work has begun.”
President Adesanya is the MD/CEO of Diamond Fountains X Resources, MD/CEO of Diamond Fountains Event Management, and MD/CEO of Diamond Fountains Dredging Ltd.
He highlighted the Club’s Maternal and Child Health Programme at LASUTH, appreciating the Rotarians, partners and supporters who contributed to its success.
He stressed that the initiative was only the beginning, outlining plans in Basic Education and Literacy, Disease Prevention, Economic Empowerment and Community Development.
His administration is anchored on three principles:
IMPACT. INTEGRITY. INCLUSION.
He called on members to contribute their ideas, networks and energy, promising strategic planning, excellent execution and strong partnerships that would ensure the Club leaves a lasting footprint beyond his tenure.
He also expressed appreciation to the District leadership, particularly District Governor Rtn. Layi Abidoye, for their support.


THE SYMBOLIC TRANSFER OF THE COLARETTE
The hallmark of the investiture was the presentation of the Colarette, the symbol of Rotary leadership, to the new President.
Anchored by PDG Dr. Kabiru Omotosho, the Colarette was ceremonially transferred from the outgoing President, Rtn. Emmanuel Ejime, to Rtn. Adetola Adesanya, PHF+, marking the formal transfer of the mantle of leadership.
Rtn. Ejime, who served the Club selflessly, diligently and meticulously, thanked members for their cooperation throughout his tenure and encouraged them to give the new President their full support.


HONOURING THE CHAMPIONS BEHIND ROTARY’S IMPACT
A major highlight was the Special Recognition Awards, celebrating distinguished individuals, organisations, Rotary leaders and partners whose support continues to advance the Club’s humanitarian mission.
Among those recognised was Hon. Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe, Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, honoured as Patron, Rotary Club of Shomolu Youth Development, for his commitment to youth development and community advancement.
The Club also honoured HRM Oba (Dr.) Mudasiru Ajibade-Bakare Agoro, Olufoworesetie II, the Ranodu of Imota, who graced the occasion as Royal Father of the Day, adding royal dignity to the celebration.
The Chairman of the Occasion, Mr. Roland Oraekwugha, was recognised for his support and contribution to the success of the investiture. His commitment to Rotary was further demonstrated through his induction as an Associate Rotary Member.
Special recognition was given to DCNs Chief Mrs. Busola Elizabeth Isikalu, Iyaloja General of Ikorodu Division, Mother of the Day and Matron of Rotary Club of Shomolu, for her support, particularly as a sponsor of the Prosthesis Project, which seeks to restore mobility and renew hope.
The Club appreciated Bayer Pharmaceutical Company as co-sponsor of the Caesarean Section Project, while IPP Alex Nwachukwu was recognised for his contribution as co-sponsor. Dr. Solomon Aliu, the Special Guest, was also honoured for his presence and support.
Corporate partnership was highlighted through the recognition of OMKL Company, sponsor of the Micro-Credit Scheme and co-sponsor of the WASH and Maternal & Child Health projects.
The Club also celebrated AG (Dr.) Bamidele Chris Onalaja (AKS) and PAG Mrs. Tolulope Onalaja (AKS), recognised as the Odogwu Paranran of Rotary Club of Shomolu, for their immense support for the Club’s projects.
Also honoured was PP Fowoke Williams, the Foundation Speaker, for his contribution to Rotary Foundation activities and advocacy.
A special recognition went to Rtn. Layi Abidoye, District Governor, Rotary District 9112, for his fatherly support, mentorship, guidance and leadership.
The recognition segment became more than an awards presentation; it was a celebration of the people, partners and institutions behind the Club’s impact.


STRENGTHENING THE ROTARY FAMILY
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of Rotarian Alabi Johnson Omeiza as Club President-Elect and the unveiling of the Club Board Members.
A major highlight was the induction of 10 new members into the Rotary Club of Shomolu. Eight were physically present, while two participated virtually from the Diaspora, demonstrating that Rotary fellowship and service transcend geographical boundaries.
The expanded membership further strengthens the Club’s capacity to serve, innovate and create meaningful community impact.


ROTARY FELLOWSHIP AT ITS FINEST
The presence of the District Governor and several 2026–2027 Impactful Presidents reflected the strong spirit of Rotary unity and fellowship.
The Chairman of the Event, Mr. Roland Oraekwugha, delivered a goodwill message, expressing his alignment with Rotary ideals and encouraging the incoming President to surpass the achievements of previous presidents.


PDG DR. KABIRU OMOTOSHO CHALLENGES ROTARIANS TO CREATE IMPACT
In his keynote address and goodwill message, PDG Dr. Kabiru Omotosho encouraged Rotarians to remain committed to creating lasting impact and urged visitors to consider joining Rotary.
He highlighted Rotary’s global humanitarian efforts, particularly the fight against polio, as a powerful example of how collective service can bring hope and transform lives.
The occasion also welcomed Abisola Adebayo, representing the Iyalode General of Ikorodu, as well as a representative of RevolutionPlus Property, led by its CEO, Bamidele Onalaja, from the Rotary Club of Maryland.


A NEW PRESIDENT, A NEW MANDATE, A NEW CHAPTER
As Rtn. Adetola Adesanya, PHF+, assumes office as the 42nd President, he inherits a proud legacy and a Club rich in service, fellowship and community impact.
With a strengthened membership, a new Board, strong District support and an ambitious service agenda, the Rotary Club of Shomolu is positioned to advance its commitment to Creating Lasting Impact.
His administration’s guiding philosophy of Impact, Integrity and Inclusion provides a clear direction for the Rotary year ahead.
The message from the new President was simple and powerful:
“LET’S GO TO WORK.”
