A NIGHT OF HONOUR, FELLOWSHIP AND ROTARY EXCELLENCE ROTARY DISTRICT 9112 CELEBRATES THE REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE “UNITE FOR GOOD” YEAR IN GRAND STYLE

District 9112 brings the curtain down on an exceptional Rotary year with an elegant evening of recognition, fellowship and celebration, honouring outstanding clubs, dedicated Rotarians, exemplary leadership, and remarkable humanitarian achievements that defined the inspiring “Unite for Good” journey.


Rotary District 9112 fittingly drew the curtain on an exceptional 2025–2026 Rotary year with a spectacular Night of Appreciation and Celebration, a grand occasion dedicated to honouring outstanding leadership, celebrating impactful service, and recognising the remarkable accomplishments recorded under the visionary stewardship of District Governor Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin, FCIA. Guided by inspiring theme, “Unite for Good,” the evening reflected the district’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian service, fellowship, and excellence.


Held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Rotary Centre, 8 Ladoke Akintola Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, the elegant gathering attracted Past District Governors, district officers, Rotarians, Rotary partners, and distinguished guests from across the district for an unforgettable evening of fellowship, networking, fine dining, entertainment, and recognition.
The event showcased the very essence of Rotary—a global family united by compassion, integrity, diversity, and the enduring motto of Service Above Self. Beyond celebrating another successful Rotary year, it honoured clubs and individuals whose dedication, generosity, innovation, and leadership have continued to transform lives and strengthen Rotary’s humanitarian mission.


IKOYI METRO EMERGES DISTRICT’S OVERALL BEST CLUB
One of the defining highlights of the evening was the announcement of Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro, under the exemplary leadership of President Rotarian Alexander Chukwu, as the Overall Best Club in Rotary District 9112 for the 2025–2026 Rotary year.
The club further distinguished itself by receiving several prestigious awards in recognition of its exceptional performance across Rotary’s various avenues of service, reaffirming its position as one of the district’s most impactful and service-oriented clubs.


Rotary Club of Banana Island also emerged among the district’s highest-performing clubs, joining Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro in receiving accolades for their outstanding contributions to humanitarian service and community development.
Indeed, the evening was a celebration of collective excellence, as virtually every Rotary club in District 9112 received one or more Awards of Special Recognition in acknowledgment of outstanding performance in different service areas. The awards reflected the district’s appreciation for clubs whose projects and initiatives made meaningful and lasting impacts on their communities.


HONOURING CHAMPIONS OF THE ROTARY FOUNDATION
One of the most inspiring moments of the evening was the recognition of Rotarians whose generosity continues to sustain Rotary’s global humanitarian mission through The Rotary Foundation.
In recognition of his unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions to the Foundation, Past District Governor Jide Akeredolu received a Special Presentation Award for his outstanding support of Rotary’s humanitarian programmes.
The district also celebrated a new set of Major Donors, presenting Major Donor Emblems to distinguished Rotarians whose exceptional financial contributions continue to transform lives around the world.
Recipients included Past Assistant Governor Jane Mberia of Rotary Club of Victoria Island East, President Rotarian Alexander Chukwu, Immediate Past President Rotarian Gbolahan Adeyinka, and Rotarian Anita Ugochukwu, all of Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro. Their generosity stands as a shining example of Rotary’s culture of giving and its commitment to creating hope through sustainable humanitarian service.


SPECIAL HONOURS FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE
The celebration also recognised individuals whose dedication and selfless service contributed immensely to the success of the district throughout the Rotary year.
Past Assistant Governor Ndubisi Oparo received a Special Recognition Award for his exceptional efforts in coordinating and mobilising members of Rotary District 9112 to participate in the Rotary International Convention in Taipei, Taiwan. His commitment significantly enhanced the district’s visibility and participation on the global Rotary stage.
Adding to its remarkable achievements, Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro also received the prestigious We Care Committee Award and the Best Booth Exhibition Award, presented during the District Conference in recognition of the club’s creativity, innovation, teamwork, and outstanding commitment to Rotary service.
The Planning Committee, under the able leadership of Past President Olugbenga Babayemi, also celebrated Rotarians born in the month of June, adding warmth and a personal touch to an already memorable evening.
Committee chairpersons, district officers, and numerous individual Rotarians whose unwavering dedication and support contributed to the successful execution of district programmes and flagship projects were equally honoured with Awards of Special Recognition, underscoring Rotary District 9112’s culture of recognising excellence and celebrating selfless service.


AN EVENING OF FELLOWSHIP, MUSIC AND CELEBRATION
Beyond the awards and recognitions, the event was a true celebration of Rotary fellowship at its finest. Guests enjoyed an array of assorted beverages and an impressive selection of delicious local and continental cuisines, while a live band entertained attendees with melodious renditions that kept the atmosphere lively throughout the evening. The harmonious blend of music, laughter, networking, fine dining, and warm fellowship created an elegant ambience that made the Night of Appreciation and Celebration a truly unforgettable experience.

INAUGURATION OF DISTRICT 9112 DIGITAL LIBRARY
Before the commencement of the Night of Appreciation and Celebration, Rotary District 9112 recorded another landmark achievement with the official commissioning of its Digital Library, a visionary initiative of the outgoing District Governor, Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin, FCIA. The commissioning ceremony was attended by Past District Governors, district leaders, members of the District Executive Committee, and members of the Digital Library Planning Committee, who joined the District Governor in unveiling the innovative platform.


Speaking during the presentation, members of the Planning Committee highlighted the significance of the Digital Library, describing it as a secure cloud-based repository that will enable members of Rotary District 9112 to conveniently access important district documents, reports, publications, policies, and historical records from anywhere in the world. They noted that the initiative will enhance knowledge management, preserve the district’s institutional memory, ensure continuity in leadership, and stands as one of the enduring legacies of District Governor Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin’s administration, reflecting his commitment to innovation, efficiency, and sustainable growth within Rotary District 9112.


A HISTORIC DEWEF ACHIEVEMENT
One of the evening’s most emotional moments came when Past District Governor Abayomi paid glowing tribute to District Governor Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin for his visionary leadership and exceptional accomplishments throughout the “Unite for Good” Rotary year.
He particularly applauded the District Governor for successfully mobilising and raising an unprecedented ₦64 million for the District Emergency Welfare Fund (DEWEF)—the highest amount ever raised for the initiative in the history of Rotary District 9112. In recognition of this extraordinary milestone, District Governor Lanre Adedoyin received the prestigious Outstanding Performance DEWEF Board Award, celebrating his compassion, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of Rotarians.


A LEGACY THAT WILL ENDURE
As the evening drew to a close, members reflected with gratitude on a Rotary year defined by impactful service, strengthened fellowship, generous giving, and transformational leadership. More than a closing ceremony, the Night of Appreciation and Celebration became a fitting tribute to the enduring spirit of Rotary—celebrating lives touched, communities transformed, partnerships strengthened, and friendships deepened through Service Above Self.
The “Unite for Good” Rotary year will be remembered as a defining chapter in the history of Rotary District 9112—one that inspired excellence, advanced humanitarian service, strengthened The Rotary Foundation, celebrated generosity, and reaffirmed the district’s unwavering commitment to making a lasting difference in the lives of people and communities.
