The Rotary Club of Apakun, under Rotary International District 9111, has opened a remarkable new chapter of leadership and service with the installation of Rotarian Eke Chinedum Obioha, PHF, ESQ, MCIArb UK, ACIS, as the 39th President of the Club for the 2026–2027 Rotary Year.
Held on Sunday, 27th September 2026, at the prestigious Best Western Plus Ambience Hotel, 12 Allen Avenue, Ikeja, the colourful investiture brought together an impressive gathering of Rotarians, distinguished personalities, family members, friends and well-wishers to celebrate a new chapter of service and leadership.
The occasion was more than a ceremonial transfer of office. It was a celebration of Rotary’s enduring philosophy of Service Above Self, a recognition of distinguished service and a renewed commitment to humanitarian impact.

A GRAND ARRIVAL FOR A NEW PRESIDENT
The ceremony commenced on a glamorous note with the grand arrival of the newly installed President, Rotarian Eke Chinedum Obioha, who arrived in the company of his friends and family members, accompanied by his wife.
The arrival set the tone for an atmosphere filled with excitement, warmth and anticipation as Rotarians and guests welcomed the man who would take the mantle of leadership of the Club for the new Rotary year.

DISTINGUISHED PERSONALITIES ADD GLAMOUR
The event attracted an array of distinguished personalities.
Serving as Chairman of the occasion was Mazi Chike Okoroafor, while Mr. Malachy Ugwumadu was the Guest of Honour.
The Guest Speaker, Chief Femi Falana, SAN, also brought his distinguished presence and experience to the occasion.
The presence of these personalities, alongside Rotary leaders and members of the Club, added considerable prestige to the investiture

BUKOLA BAKARE: A CHARGE FOR GREATER IMPACT
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presence of the District Governor, Rotarian Bukola Olabisi Bakare (Nee Ogunyemi).
In her charge to the newly installed President, the District Governor encouraged Rotarian Obioha to seize the opportunity provided by the investiture to mobilise greater resources for humanitarian causes and impactful community projects.
Her message was clear: Rotary leadership is ultimately measured by the lives touched and the difference made in the community.
She urged the new administration to remain committed to the ideals of Rotary and ensure that its leadership translates into meaningful and sustainable impact.

THE MOMENT OF TRANSITION
Then came one of the most anticipated moments of the day—the formal installation ritual.
In a symbolic and deeply significant exchange, the presidential collar, representing the authority, responsibility and trust attached to the office, was transferred from the outgoing President, Rotarian Damola Solomon, to the newly installed President, Rotarian Eke Chinedum Obioha.
The historic transition was conducted under the supervision of District Governor Rotarian Bukola Olabisi Bakare, District Governor-Elect Rotarian Sam Ayetutu, and Club Assistant Governor Rotarian Lawrence, alongside other distinguished Rotary leaders.
With the exchange of the collar, Rotarian Obioha formally assumed the leadership of the Rotary Club of Apakun as its 39th President.

NEW MEMBERS JOIN THE ROTARY FAMILY
The glowing activities of the day also included the induction of new members into Rotary International.
The induction ceremony provided an opportunity to welcome new members into the Rotary family and remind them of the values and responsibilities that come with membership of an organisation committed to humanitarian service.
Their induction further strengthens the Club’s membership base and expands its pool of professionals and individuals committed to making a difference.

A NEW CABINET FOR A NEW ADMINISTRATION
Another important highlight was the inauguration of the new Board members, who will work alongside President Obioha as members of his cabinet throughout the 2026–2027 Rotary Year.
The inauguration formally constituted the leadership team that will support the President in implementing the administration’s programmes, projects and strategic objectives.
Working as a team, the President and his cabinet are expected to strengthen fellowship, enhance the Club’s activities and pursue projects capable of delivering meaningful benefits to the community.

CELEBRATING THOSE WHO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The occasion also featured the presentation of Awards of Special Recognition and Appreciation.
The awards provided an opportunity for the Rotary Club of Apakun to acknowledge and celebrate individuals whose support, contributions and commitment have enhanced the activities and humanitarian objectives of the Club.
The recognition segment added another memorable dimension to an already colourful ceremony.

THE OBIOHA LEADERSHIP VISION
Rotarian Eke Chinedum Obioha comes into office with a leadership identity captured in a compelling statement:
“A LEADER. A BUILDER. A TRAILBLAZER.”
His leadership philosophy further emphasises Executive Leadership & Entrepreneurial Mastery, reflecting a vision that brings together leadership, enterprise, strategic thinking and service.
As a professional bearing the designations PHF, ESQ, MCIArb UK and ACIS, President Obioha brings a combination of professional experience and entrepreneurial orientation to his new responsibility.
His administration is expected to build upon the achievements of previous leaders while strengthening the Club’s commitment to humanitarian service and impactful community development.

*WHEN LEADERSHIP BECOMES SERVICE*
