AN EMOTIONAL LEADERSHIP TRANSITION AS THE CLUB CELEBRATES A LEGACY OF SERVICE AND WELCOMES A NEW CHAPTER OF PURPOSEFUL LEADERSHIP
Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro witnessed a memorable transition of leadership on Saturday, 19 September 2026, as Rotarian Emeka Nwosu was installed as the 25th President of the club at the Sir Adetokunbo Ademola Hall, Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, Victoria Island, Lagos.
under the theme “CREATE LASTING IMPACT,” the ceremony brought together Rotarians, distinguished guests, family members, friends and community leaders for an afternoon dedicated to service, leadership and fellowship.
A GRAND BEGINNING TO A NEW ROTARY YEAR
The ceremony commenced with a group photograph, setting the tone for a memorable celebration.
This was followed by the ceremonial entrance of past presidents of the club, symbolising the rich leadership history and continuity of Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro.
The arrival of District Governor Layi Abidoye added further significance to the occasion, while the grand arrival of the newly installed president, Rotarian Emeka Nwosu, marked the beginning of a new chapter in the club’s journey.
A MOVING SYMBOL OF LEADERSHIP TRANSITION
One of the most emotional moments of the ceremony was the exchange of the Rotary presidential collarette, the symbolic insignia of presidential leadership within the club.
The historic moment was witnessed by District Governor Layi Abidoye, his wife, Inner Wheel Dr. Derin Abidoye, Past District Governor Rita Ejezie, and other distinguished Rotary club leaders who graced the occasion.
The collarette was formally transferred from the immediate past president, Rotarian Engr. Alexander Chukwu, to the newly installed president, Rotarian Emeka Nwosu, in a powerful display of Rotary’s tradition of leadership continuity and service.
The moment carried deep emotion for members of Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro, particularly in recognition of the achievements and performance of the outgoing president during his tenure.
As the Rotary presidential collarette moved from Rotarian Engr. Alexander Chukwu to Rotarian Emeka Nwosu, the symbolism was unmistakable — one chapter had ended, but the spirit of service continued.
For members of Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro, there was also a sense of confidence that the new president would continue the journey, carrying forward the club’s commitment to impactful projects, fellowship and service to humanity.
A PROFESSIONAL WITH A DEEP COMMITMENT TO SAFETY
Rotarian Emeka Nwosu brings to the presidency an impressive professional background spanning more than two decades in safety and risk management. He currently serves as Coordinator for Regional Safety at MTN Nigeria Communications PLC and is pursuing a PhD in Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Risk Management at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun.
He holds an MSc in Health, Safety & Risk Management from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, United Kingdom, and a BSc in Political Science from the University of Ilorin.
His professional development includes Specialist Grade IIRSM UK, IOSH UK, fellowships with Emergency Crisis & Disaster Risk Management Nigeria, membership of the American Society for Safety Professionals and ISPON, as well as certifications in Business Continuity, Crisis Management, NEBOSH, ISO standards and other areas of professional safety management.
He has also participated in management programmes at Harvard Business School and Lagos Business School, including “Managing People for Strategic Advantage” at IBS.
LEARNING, LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE
Beyond his professional achievements, Rotarian Emeka Nwosu has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to service.
His Rotary journey began through Rotaract at the University of Ilorin, providing an early foundation for his continuing commitment to humanitarian service.
He is also a devoted Catholic and served for four years as PPC Secretary at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Isolo, Lagos.
As President General of the Udokamma Age Grade Ajalli, he initiated fundraising for an educational trust fund and has remained involved in humanitarian activities in Ajalli, Anambra State.
His community contributions have also earned him chieftaincy recognition. He is married to Mrs Veronica Chioma Emeka-Nwosu, and they are blessed with two children.

CELEBRATING THOSE WHO SERVE
Another memorable highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of Special Appreciation Awards to distinguished guests whose presence and contributions added value to the occasion.
Among those recognised were the Chairman of the Day, the Guest Speaker and the Royal Father, as well as distinguished Nigerians recognised for dedicating their lives and resources to humanity.
The Chairman of the Day, Ayokunle Ojo, Group Executive, Treasury and Financial Institutions, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, brought extensive professional experience in treasury management, global markets, foreign exchange, interest rates and derivatives.
The Guest Speaker, Valentine Chineto Ozigbo, was also among the distinguished personalities who graced the occasion. The Royal Father of the Day was HRM Igwe Dr Benneth Izuchukwu Emeka, Oke Ebo Umueri, Igwe Umueri.

The ceremony also featured distinguished guests, including Chief Adeotun Ogundemuren, Special Guest 1, and Mazi (Engr.) Igwe Adibe, Special Guest 2.
