HEALTHY MOTHERS. HEALTHY BABIES. STRONGER COMMUNITIES.
A COMMUNITY-FOCUSED HEALTH INTERVENTION
The Rotary Club of Omole Ojodu, District 9112, reaffirmed its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of mothers, children and vulnerable families through its Maternal & Child Health Community Outreach Project, held on Thursday, 6 August 2026, at Oke-Ira Central Primary Health Centre, Powerline.
The project, themed “Healthy Mothers. Healthy Babies. Stronger Communities,” featured a 3-in-1 community intervention focused on Maternal and Child Health, Support for Routine Childhood Immunization, and Community Support for Vulnerable Families.
The Club was warmly received by the management of Oke-Ira Central Primary Health Centre, with the Officer-in-Charge, Matron Osholake, expressing appreciation for the Club’s meaningful intervention and support to the community.
LEADERSHIP, HEALTH EDUCATION & FAMILY WELLBEING
The Club President, Rotarian Mayowa Oyelere Ademola, was warmly welcomed by the Service Projects Chair, IPP Rtn. Akinsanya Faith Naydee, who invited him to address the mothers and members of the community.
In his remarks, the Club President appreciated the mothers for their presence and engagement, and spoke on the theme, “Healthy Mothers. Healthy Babies. Stronger Communities.” He highlighted maternal and child health as a fundamental pillar for building healthy families and stronger communities, noting that when mothers and children are healthy, the wider community is better positioned to thrive.
He further emphasised that maternal and child health remains a vital area of focus for Rotary International, reflecting Rotary’s longstanding commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of mothers and children and creating lasting impact in communities around the world. He encouraged the mothers to take their health and the wellbeing of their children seriously and to make good use of available healthcare services.
In a further session on family wellbeing, PP Rtn. Henderson Bello sensitised the mothers on the importance of healthy child spacing, highlighting how appropriate intervals between pregnancies can contribute to the health and wellbeing of both mothers and children. He encouraged families to make informed and responsible decisions that promote healthier families and better outcomes for mothers and their children.
SUPPORTING MOTHERS, CHILDREN & VULNERABLE FAMILIES
As part of the outreach, Maternal and Child Health gift packages were presented to nursing mothers by the Club President, Rtn. Mayowa Oyelere, providing practical items to support them during pregnancy and early motherhood. The Club also extended financial support to vulnerable families, offering practical assistance and demonstrating Rotary’s commitment to reaching those who need support the most. In support of the healthcare facility, the Rotary Club presented hospital bedsheets and refreshments to the health centre, further contributing to the comfort and wellbeing of patients and caregivers.
COORDINATION, COLLABORATION & SERVICE
The project was planned and coordinated by IPP Rtn. Akinsanya Faith Naydee, Service Projects Chair, working with a three-member planning team responsible for brainstorming, planning and coordinating the key components of the 2026 Maternal & Child Health Project. The planning process involved collaboration with the Club leadership, Service Projects Committee and the management of Oke-Ira Central Primary Health Centre, helping to ensure that the various aspects of the intervention were thoughtfully organised and successfully delivered.
ROTARIANS UNITED IN SERVICE
Members of the Rotary Club of Omole Ojodu participated actively in the outreach, offering encouragement, care and support to the beneficiaries and working alongside the health centre management to make the intervention meaningful.
The Maternal & Child Health Community Outreach Project reflects the Club’s commitment to Creating Lasting Impact through practical interventions that address real community needs. By supporting mothers, protecting children, strengthening healthcare partnerships and extending a helping hand to vulnerable families, the Rotary Club of Omole Ojodu continues to demonstrate that service is not merely an intention—it is action that transforms lives.
